Who Are They Calling Elitist?

By Eric Altermann
[now fully read]
My reply:
Who are the "cultural elite"? I think it is pretty "fair and balanced" to say that it is "people who only think they know better than you". It is also a label brought to you by people who don’t think they need to, and don‘t know they are, but don‘t either. The same people who brought you the "culture warrior". The same people who brought you "trickle down" * . The same people who brought you "lift yourself up by your own bootstraps". The same people who now probably don’t have boot straps, no matter how much they rely on the bottom line. The same people who think the bottom line is all that matters. The same people who don’t see people as the bottom line. The same people who see corporations as people. The same people who put people under the trickle down, rather than in the first line of the constitution. The same people who can’t read the second line of the constitution but can read the second amendment, and don’t worry again about the 1st amendment. Of course unless you are far enough above the line to own a corporation. And then of course it is best to forget about what people are, or what one owns, until of course, it comes to democracy. Then it is stay the course of course, don’t ask the people. But more important is, don’t ask, don't tell...US.

* (nfr) - This is an actual footnote from Wikipedia **:
"A major feature of these policies was the reduction of tax rates on capital gains, corporate income, and higher individual incomes, along with the reduction or elimination of various excise taxes. David Stockman, who as Reagan's budget director championed these cuts but then became skeptical of them, told journalist William Greider that the term "supply-side economics" was used to promote a trickle-down idea.[4]
It's kind of hard to sell 'trickle down,' so the supply-side formula was the only way to get a tax policy that was really 'trickle down.' Supply-side is 'trickle-down' theory. [5] - David Stockman, Ronald Reagan's budget director "

And from the other "fair and balanced" perspective called denial, Thomas Sowell wrote of The "Trickle Down". Economics Straw Man (nfry), and claimed: "No such theory can be found in even the most voluminous and learned books on the history of economics. It is a straw man." Who apparently is not elite enough to be an economist ***, but was allowed into the ranks of politicians, businessmen and budget directors.
** Now, Wikipedia should not be considered the most authoritative source, but it is usually sourced, so don't be elitist. And reading footnotes might put you in that crowd or is it not needing them.
***(The strawman and Stockman (nfry), not Sowell (nfry) .)

Political Calculus

Or Real Economics?More Trickle Down for New Orleans?
Or just what the doctor ordered.
Just say no economics>

Trickle Down Employment or Intelligent Design?
Or is the tripartite design of the stimulus the design that gives an alternative to bipartisanship or return to partisanship?

I'm guessing recalculations might be in order.
P.S. Has Louisiana's economy really not been hit as hard a most or is it like the global warming scam? It would seem that following Katrina and with the slow trickle down of aide, the needs and opportunities could be the reason or is it season. I am inserting irony here, others can insert the facts or economics of comparative recovery from disasters. Does this translate to hope or luck in Louisianna and for whom?

[Did we include apoplectic in the Four Eh?*]

Catching Up with US.

OR WATERLOGGED (Cause and Effect/Accountability)

Just why is bureaucracy so at fault when Bush or whoever is in charge (he apparently has to investigate that) added to it by bringing FEMA under Homeland Security?

Homeland Security, and Bush, are more at fault than FEMA, unless blame is only trickle down. (For some it is the people's fault while they serve at the will of the president.)

No wonder New Orleans is flooded. For the sake of millions of bucks passed (NOT), we need billions of buckets to bail out the trickle down.

Maybe there is some sort of "rhetorical" balance in this administration. A linguistic "Tao" of sorts, or that sorts it out. Money is passed up, and "the buck" is passed down. Now I get the schizophrenic partnership between the pillars of the Republican party that are falling upon this country. Religion and the Almighty Dollar do not need to be so close or frictional, but it appears that the dollar to them is meant to rise while the moral burden is for the masses.

Wait. Is this only rhetoric? A metaphor may be more accurate. But rhetoric like money and religion are just words that need to be given meaning by how they are connected to the living and dying. And before I waste more words, I will just say that the bureaucracy is a key in providing the connections to more than just two factors.

The blame does not go to religion, money or bureaucracy which will and must change, but the actors that need to change. The PROCESS must be a two way street of ACCOUNTABILITY between many factors, rather than just the high road and the low road of survival of the "fittest" or we will continue to revolve rather than evolve.

If there is "intelligent design" it may be that I could not make any PROGRESS with a pun about removing the R and replacing the D to improve our evolution. But it also may show the "cause and effect" which is ACCOUNTABILITY that neither party nor people can escape

Now we have come full circle: He trusts the people, not the government, and now everything is on them.

the text: in his own words.

Obama is right, now what will others write? Never mind.

Reform of system that puts investor profits and executive bailouts over failure of so-called free markets, may be a pincer attack that Obama and Clinton can perform on the trickle-down. McCain/Gramm syndrome dealt with.

[On the other hand: Trickle-Down Bailout Continues.]

[There is only one psychologist at a time. But Obama must be semi-engaged and Bush must acknowledge his part, not that this means that the Citigroup move was crazy. Until the transition is complete there is a good reason for this cross between a tug-a-war and teeter-totter. Can we say legacy? Try Angle

Here are a few pieces that intersect.
Re-Rights,
Checks,
And Balances. [^^^]

How? Well, we have the Judiary, Congress, and the Executive perspectives.
The bottom line is account ability. Yes, that is two words under three branches.
We have the accounting of Bush v. Gore, trickle down, and the slippery slope. Juctices can't count, economics does, and they all matter. I will try not fall into the trap of the previous post with technical difficulties arising from the burden of
tangents and links, or whatever the problem*** is, but it is a matter of looking back** at where we were and how we got there, with Bush the Decider, the current economic climate of understanding Trickle-Down and Slippery-Slopes, and the Executive we are lucky to have in the face of mythical* obstructionism and obfuscation. In fact, again I have only read the first and glanced a bit at the others but they are almost a protractor or other instrument of our graphic nature and the geometry of purpose that some have. i.e. It was not my original intent but maybe there is some intelligent design, in that it is about Re-Writing our social architecture. Re-writing checks and balances, economics is the bottomline and whether there is Bane or Change, and I don't mean Bain or Boehner.

* mythical: as in monstrously huge if not fantastical.
** well they did arise so there! I mean here:
and see Lord of markets,
and values politics. Economics is not without politics and values.***

An Economy Runs Through It.

The last thread, that is.
I don't recall seeing the movie about the river,
was it about trickle-down?

This is, though.
Why You Want a Progressive to Be Running the Economy
The trickle-down, not the river.

On the other hand.
This is about the power of planning.
Ten Things You Should Know About China

The former is a good primer on the politics of economics, while the latter may be a more advanced course on freedoms and economic powers, not to mention foreign policy.

[Update- Because I just did not want to start another post- Going after National Security(nfr* - preemptively I will say that the Republican Rove machine seems to attack on the strength of their opponents, National Security and the Economy. But the reality is that they are attacking on their own weaknesses. Remember The Twin Towers? Remember the Deficit? And Foreign Affairs? Remember Saddam Hussein, the Bin Ladens, and other royal families?) From Doom and Gloom to Fear and Smear, is that a world we can believe in? OK, this is not too tightly linked to McCain, but is he really too tightly wrapped as the Maverick? Not to mention is the word "trump" coming up too much? Have we gone from poker to pinochle? ]

*sorry for the visual
But more rowing in the mud and it may be a photo finish.

Speaking of Cracking the Code (and How to Win Hearts, Change Minds and Restore America's Original Vision, I am slightly more than midway through my autographed edition, but it is what I have been doing / for years. Reading between the lines (if not not finishing books or links) [speaking of finishing 12-19-07 ] here is the most powerful dig at their world view.

The shovel they keep piling on mud and B_S_ with, so the trickle down flows, and the plumbers can plug and leak, and the flatearthers can have their boats and their rising tide. From missing tapes [*]segments, to missing emails, from violated FISA to the Presidential Records Act. The Trickle Down is right in the middle of the two Plumbers problem which congress needs to flush. From the Nixon administration plugging leaks to the Bush administration using leaks, it is all about the flow and control of information, and holding government and the press accountable. It is not just in the constitution, it is on the people.

Looking Back, and Moving On.

Thanks for Thom Hartmann reference to Naomi Klein Year Zero

A few years later, something I just googled up on the Unified Model of Reality which Bush violates. [America's Darwin Awards and a Philosophy Assignment
by Martin Schönfeld / Commondreams.org]

Which fits my PBMP "Power Broker Mountain Project" which is about how things work and it is not just "trickle down". The three branches of government are just one example of how things should work and what it is about. The point is progress and the people. You can't "trickle down" till you get there and try getting there without the system (structure, environment, culture) and other people.

The points of my "Tetrahedron Model of Reality" is basically the fields of physics, philosophy, and psychology which represent forces, thoughts and feelings but the point is the big project.

And now John Nichols: "Bush may have been wrong about war presidents being popular." On "The Genius of Impeachment".

Enough for now, I have my own reality to work on, for the time being.

From Trickle Down

To Mandate. Just a brief note on the begining of the end of the Reagan Revolution.

Well that is not exactly what I predict, but there is some irony in the freedom that those "carrying the water" for the Bush administration feel since the hole in their bucket has washed away the middle class. Just a note that I spent most of the day with CNN and then the evening with MSNBC, just to get a taste of THE BLUE WAVE from the "trickle down machine".

Haah. More late, maybe much later as I develop other projects.

(an hour or so later) I bracket this day noting the AP as calling it 51 Democratss and 49 Republicans. Don't independents count? Sanders and Lieberman that is. But so as not to forget the partof the balance that got us here.

Wall Street or Main Street

Reading between the lines?
The people spoke out 100 to 1 against the bailout.
Republicans voted against** the bill:
"Despite the changes made during an intense week of negotiations, the heart of the program remains President Bush's original idea: spend billions of taxpayer dollars to buy mortgage-backed securities whose value has plummeted."
This comment was from Sunday, seemingly mischaracterizing the progress made on a bipartisan basis. It seems to me that more accountability and more creativeness is needed to bring mainstreet along. But politically it will be difficult as Democrats will not go far enough, and Republicans want the market to fix itself, meaning more trickle down.

[Note that my caution on Palin, is reflected in the conflict of nuance between her comments and McCain policy.[*] It is my feeling that some of the punditry is missing the nuance and/or her uncomfortablness is manufactured intentionally or not by her handlers.]
* the irony is that the Palin/McCain rhetoric on Pakistan is the Obama policy. Or diplomacy is flip-flop and context, not to mention the media.

**Perfect Politics McCain is out of touch, misrepresenting that Obama's allies voted down the bill, when the reverse is true.

[Bush blames media and is right for once. Bailout not the right word and even a fix is not the right word. Unless it is that we are in a fix.]

Akin to share 'n angle there is the tone down.  A popular network personality was criticized for going after police killings but not community killings, to put it in rather nuanced terms.  The point there is that the community hires the police, therefore have more say in the matter.  Then there is the more silly than sad point that if rifles were what the NRA were about it might be different, but it says something to the trickle down and slippery slope of fear 'n rhetoric.  So back to the idea that Russia is sad or we are Putin up with some escalation or "mental aberration".

TM-R (day 21)

Barely half-way though a period of review, today we have another quixotic mess which I was barely able to wade through.

HOWEVER I DID,
BUT ONLY AFTER THESE ACTIVITIES TRANSPIRED:

Last night my local Democratic Legislative district passed a resolution to urge our senators to support Russ Feingold's move to censure Bush.

HERE IS MY PLEA TO THEM THE DAY BEFORE:
Since impeachment procedures can only begin in the House, please support Senator Feingold on his resolution to censure President Bush for illegally wiretapping without court order.

This measure should get a full committee hearings with sworn testimony that will hold not only the administration accountable, but Republicans who won't uphold the constitution, accountable.

The argument is that this is a political stunt. It is also a constitutional stunt. If politics is not used at it's fullest to protect the constitution, it will be used to circumvent it. If it is not clear to partisans on our side, it is on the other. Even swing voters would likely prefer a clearer choice than between those that break the law and those that will not uphold it.

[boldness added here]

While some "loyal opposition" may call boldness an Impeachable Strategy and resort to political calculus and even the physics of gravity like trickle down...

My reply:

Gravity does not apply in politics!
Bush (or a con) knows that will does.
Gravity is a two way street and while the masses may pull down the politician's bootstraps, only real leaders with courage can choose to pull up the bootstraps of the people.

Those who will not stand up for clarity from the administration and those who cut and run from the constitution and conversation, have no lack of will to trust, but little faith or courage to verify. Only that makes the process quixotic.
